City of Valdosta’s Neighborhood Development Division Offers Online Public Survey

Press release from the issuing company

Wednesday, January 7th, 2015

For the first time, the City of Valdosta’s Neighborhood Development Division has made it possible for citizens to participate and offer their opinions on the Consolidated Plan via an online survey from wherever they may access the internet.  The information collected will provide citizen’s input to help the city complete its Consolidated Plan for the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program, for which the city has been an entitlement community since 2004.

Every five years, the city must complete this plan to outline the needs and priorities for their upcoming yearly entitlement allotments geared toward the low-moderate income populations residing within the Designated Revitalization Area (DRA).  Since 2010, the Valdosta Mayor and City Council have dedicated its yearly allotments to accomplishing the city’s goal of eliminating substandard housing by the year 2020.

Interested citizens can access the thirteen-question survey link at www.valdostacity.com, by simply selecting the Neighborhood Development Division page from the “Departments” dropdown menu.  Citizens who complete the electronic survey may do so anonymously, between now and March 15, 2015.

Although the city offers the online survey, citizens may still opt to send their comments to the Neighborhood Development office, via U.S. mail or email. For citizens who have questions or need special accommodations, divisional information is available by request in an alternative format.  Language Assistance is also available to include oral interpretation and written translation services.  Please contact the Neighborhood Development Division at (229) 671-3617 with these questions or requests.
