Jan. 28: State Leaders Attend 2015 Bird Supper. Citizens from Valdosta-Lowndes County are meeting with legislators and other state leadership at the traditional Bird Supper event, Wednesday, Jan. 28, at the Georgia Railroad Depot, in Atlanta, beginning at 5 p.m. Georgia Governor Nathan Deal has confirmed his attendance at this event, which provides area citizens face time with our state's top leadership to discuss important items on the 2015 legislative agenda. Jan. 28: LAST DAY to Get Applications in for Board Vacancies. If your New Year's resolution is to get more active with the community, consider one of eight positions vacant on the city's boards, commissions, authorities and advisory committees. Click here or contact City Clerk Teresa Bolden at (229) 259-3503 for more information and to obtain the required forms. The closing date for submitting the General Board Application and Code of Ethics form is Jan. 28, by 5 p.m. The Mayor and Council will appoint citizens to these positions at the Feb. 5 City Council meeting.
