Wiregrass Manufacturing Leadership Academy to Start January 2015

Managing employees to be their best in manufacturing is one of the best long-term, positive management practices in any organization. Front Line Managers and Supervisors must possess effective leadership skills to manage and motivate employees to perform at their peak. To assist our manufacturers in building those skills, Wiregrass Economic Development will offer another seven month Manufacturing Leadership Academy starting January 2015. The seven courses in the academy were chosen by area manufacturers and cover important topics such as Team Building, Supervisory Communication Skills, Leadership Skills, Performance Management, Problem Solving & Decision Making, Conflict Resolution, and Motivating Employees to do Their Best.
The Wiregrass Manufacturing Leadership Academy is set to offer one course module a month for seven months total. The Leadership Academy will be located on the Wiregrass Valdosta Campus. “Last year we had an average of 18 participants in each monthly course from seven area companies” Bill Tillman, Director of Economic Development said. “We received a tremendous amount of positive feedback last year from both the employee participants and company leaders regarding our leadership academy course content and its intrinsic value related to on the job application. We are very excited to offer this affordable Manufacturing Leadership Academy training experience again in the Valdosta and Cook service area”, Tillman said.
