Valdosta Chamber Expands Advocacy Efforts to Offer Election Education
Press release from the issuing company
Monday, December 15th, 2014
The Chamber makes no bones about being serious when it comes to its advocacy program, and 2014 has been a year to prove it.
The year’s efforts have focused on Moody Air Force Base with programs like Operation Moody Transition, which bridged the gap between early release veterans and local businesses seeking employees. The South Georgia Military Affairs Council (SGMAC) visited the Pentagon in April to convey the support of local business and community leaders for the A-29 Afghan air force training mission. In addition, the Government Affairs Council has already begun preparing for a busy 2015, preparing for an active State Legislative Session as forecasted by local delegates Ellis Black, Amy Carter and Dexter Sharper at last week’s State Legislative Lunch.
With the coming of a new year, Chamber leaders prepare for a brand new initiative designed to create a stronger voice for the business community. Campaign Academy 101 will provide a platform for local business leaders who have served in various elected offices to help those interested in serving in similar capacities gain a better understanding of what goes into planning and executing a successful campaign. The course will be offered on Feb. 4 at the Chamber.
