Street Resurfacing Work on Eager Road and Jerry Jones Drive
Press release from the issuing company
Wednesday, December 3rd, 2014
On Dec. 4-5. the City of Valdosta will resurface Eager Road and Jerry Jones Drive, from Oak Street to Gornto Road, beginning at 9 a.m. each day. The work is expected to be completed by Friday, Dec. 5, weather permitting.
Walmar and Jadan Streets were also resurfaced this week, part of a water and sewer expansion contract that began in December 2013. The Valdosta City Council approved a change order request to this contract on Nov. 20, 2014 to include the resurfacing of Eager Road and a portion of Jerry Jones Drive. Since both Eager Road and Jerry Jones Drive are included in the list of streets to be resurfaced in the LMIG 2015, the city took advantage of the current pricing from the existing contract which saved taxpayers approximately $80,000. The decision to expedite work on these streets also minimized inconvenience to the traveling public by eliminating the need to close roads twice within a few months.
Due to the nature of this work, possible traffic interruptions and lane shifts may be expected. All necessary turn and road-closure signs will be in place at Oak Street, Berkley Drive, Country Club Drive and Gornto Road to alert the traveling public. The roads will be opened at the end of each day.
Residents will have access to their properties at all times. However, motorists should use extreme caution and pay close attention to both vehicular and pedestrian traffic while driving in these areas.
