AT&T has been a solid supporter of Wiregrass Georgia Technical College for many years. That support continues this year with Courtney Brinson, Regional Director of External Affairs at AT&T, presenting a contribution of $3000 to Wiregrass Georgia Technical College Foundation South on November 10, 2014.
Brinson said, “We are pleased to support Wiregrass Georgia Technical College’s scholarship and student retention programs. These programs are critical for the students. We want to do everything that we can to help them succeed. When business and industry stand behind the education of students, it sends a very powerful message. We are proud to be helping to send that message.”
While the HOPE grants and scholarships are very helpful in making college more affordable for students, they do not cover the full costs of attending college. That means that donations from businesses like AT&T are greatly needed and appreciated. By investing in workforce development for students, AT&T is investing in economic development for our community.
Donations to the Wiregrass Foundation South can help students with expenses such as books, tuition, fees, and supplies as they work toward their certificates, diplomas, and degrees to use in the workplace. Donors are welcome to establish scholarships for students, contribute to the general fund, name labs or buildings, or provide equipment for programs of their choice. Each and every donation meaningfully touches the lives of students either through direct assistance or through program enhancements.
