Dr. Penelope Schmidt, Executive Director for Wiregrass Foundation South, was selected along with 27 employees of the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) to participate in the TCSG Executive Leadership Academy for 2014 – 2015.

Participation in the academy is highly selective and requires a ten month commitment to complete the program. Dr. Schmidt was nominated to attend the academy by Wiregrass Georgia Technical College's President Dr. Tina Anderson and approved by TCSG Commissioner Ron Jackson. 

The academy is designed to acquaint participants with the leadership and managerial responsibilities of TCSG executives. While the program is specifically geared to the policies and procedures of the TCSG, the curriculum is sufficiently broad in scope to have application to public two-year colleges in any state and includes topics ranging from ethics and board operations to institutional effectiveness, accreditation issues, strategic planning, and more.

Dr. Schmidt will have opportunity to engage in unique leadership experiences with colleagues across the state and complete a project to benefit TCSG and Wiregrass Georgia Technical College.
