The City of Valdosta is pleased to announce that Michael Hokanson has joined the organization as the Media Coordinator for Metro Valdosta 17—the city’s government access channel on Mediacom. In coordination with the city’s Public Information Office, Hokanson will be responsible for the broadcast of quality and timely media productions and for all technical operations of the channel.
Hokanson’s recent experience as a Digital Media Coordinator for the Georgia College & State University Athletics Department in Milledgeville, Ga. and his work with 13 WMAZ Eyewitness News in Macon, Ga. have provided him with the knowledge and skills required to coordinate the functions of the city’s government access channel. Hokanson possesses a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mass Communication, with a concentration in broadcast and electronic media, from Georgia College & State University, where he will also graduate in December 2014 with a Master of Business Administration Degree.
“I look forward to what Michael brings to the Channel 17 office and am confident that he will continue our efforts to expand community awareness of local government,” said City Manager Larry Hanson.
Since it was established in 2003, the channel has provided 24/7 news and information about city government and the services it provides to citizens, supplementing other information vehicles—website, publications, programs and events, etc.—offered by the city’s Public Information Division. Metro Valdosta 17 programming may also be conveniently viewed on demand at www.valdostacity.com or by visiting www.vimeo.com/metro17valdosta.
