Georgia State Representative Amy Carter will hold a public forum on education and the effects of the Common Core Standards.
The South Georgia Young Republicans will be hosting Carter Tuesday October 14th at Valdosta Country Club. Carter will be presenting an overview of the heavily debated Common Core educational standards.
As a lifelong educator and a state Representative, Carter has a unique insight into Common Core from both a top down, and bottom up perspective, according to Young Republicans Chairman Ben Smith. Carter’s professional experience includes working as the Diversified Cooperative Training Coordinator at Lowndes High School, and as a Business & Office Technology instructor at Valdosta Technical College.
She has been representing Georgia District 175 since 2006 and serves on several committees including Governmental Affairs and Small Business Development.
The Young Republicans meet every 2nd Tuesday of the month at Valdosta Country Club from 7-8pm to discuss issues relevant to the 18-40 age demographic. The meeting is preceded by a social hour from 6-7. All meetings are free and open to the public. For more information call 229-412-5610, or email [email protected].
