City Leadership Takes Time Out to Read to Area Students
Wednesday, August 27th, 2014
City Manager Larry Hanson, Fire Chief Freddie Broome, Municipal Judge Vernita Bender, Human Resources Director Renassa Small, City Engineer Pat Collins and several other City of Valdosta employees participated in the Pinevale Reading Day, on August. 26.
“We feel it is important to interact in a positive way with the youth in our community,” said City Manager Larry Hanson. “As community leaders, we should seek to inspire our local students to read and learn, study hard, and become lifelong learners.”
In addition to this event, the city also regularly participates in the Community Partners in Education (CPIE) program, Career Day at various schools throughout the community, Mock Trials, and the annual Job Shadow Day--among other events that interact with area youth.
