The announcement was made at the Technical College System of Georgia’s GOAL and Rick Perkins Award Conference held in Atlanta April 23-24. Williams was one of twenty-five instructors from across the state of Georgia’s Technical Colleges named as a finalist. Each college winner competed in the regional interviews in February to determine who would be the three to represent each region. After being named one of the finalist Williams along with the other finalists were interviewed by another panel of judges from across the state.  David Byers of Lanier Technical College was named the 2014 state Rick Perkins winner.

Williams received a trophy for being named as one of the top finalist along with an ipad.

When asked about his experience at the annual GOAL and Rick Perkins Award conference in Atlanta and being named a top finalist, here’s what Williams had to share, “Being named one of the finalists was truly an honor because these guys were the best our state has to offer. I felt great about my interview, and I knew I had a good shot at winning it all. I wish I could have brought home the trophy for Wiregrass, but I know I did the absolute best I could do, and that’s all I could hope for: to represent my college and my state in the best way possible.”
