SGMC Announces New Directors

South Georgia Medical Center announces new directors which include Michael Majoras, Mindy Bates and Marie Sims.
Michael Majoras, MBA, RHIA joined SGMC as the director of Health Information Management. Majoras comes from Ohio where he served as regional director of health information services and privacy officer for Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain, Ohio and Mercy Allen Hospital in Oberlin, Ohio. He is a registered health information administrator. Majoras will direct the function of the HIM department which includes maintaining all records of patient care. He will oversee coding for statistical and billing information, record analysis for completeness, data integrity and transcription services for caregiver documentation. Majoras received his Masters of Business Administration degree from Tiffin University, Tiffin, Ohio and his Bachelor’s in medical record administration from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green Ohio. He is also credentialed by the American Health Management Association as an approved ICD-10 coding instructor.
Mindy Bates and Marie Sims have both been assigned to new positions at SGMC. Bates recently accepted the position of director of Human Resources for SGMC and its affiliated campuses which include SGMC’s Smith Northview Hospital, SGMC Berrien Campus and Louis Smith Memorial Hospital. Most recently serving as Assistant to the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Randy Sauls, and the Assistant to the Hospital Authority Board, Bates has been with SGMC for more than ten years, nine of which she served as the Employee Benefits Coordinator in Human Resources. Bates attended Valdosta State University and the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania.
Marie Sims accepted the position of director of Training and Education. Sims holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education from Valdosta State University. She has been employed at SGMC since 2001. She most recently served as Community Health Promotions coordinator and was responsible for SGMC’s screenings, health fairs and other health community health awareness events including its recent community health needs assessment. Sims prior educational experience includes serving as staff development coordinator at SGMC as well as teaching at Moultrie Technical College and in the Colquitt County Schools. Her new responsibilities include general staff education for SGMC, its affiliates and campuses and includes annual review workshops, CPR, maintaining staff education for regulatory compliance and strategic planning.
