South Georgia Employer Committee to conduct UI seminar in Valdosta

The South Georgia Employer Committee, Greater Valdosta Area Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and Valdosta-Lowndes County Chamber of Commerce will host a seminar for employers on the state’s unemployment insurance (UI) program.
The seminar is designed for business owners, human resource managers, supervisors, and entrepreneurs. It will be held Wednesday, Jan. 22, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at the Georgia Department of Labor’s (GDOL) Valdosta Career Center, 221 South Ashley St. in Valdosta. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., along with a continental breakfast.
Entitled Unemployment Insurance: What Every Employer Should Know, the seminar will be led by Cherry Rizer of Albany, an employment and training consultant with the GDOL. The seminar will focus on some of the most frequently-asked questions about the UI program.
The fee for the seminar is $15 for those who register by Friday, Jan. 17, while it is $20 for those registering after that date.

The South Georgia Employer Committee is comprised of employers in Brooks, Cook, Echols, Lanier and Lowndes counties. Employer committees are groups of local business representatives who establish and maintain working relationships between employers and GDOL career centers.
