Residents of Hospice of South Georgia and Langdale Hospice House can now enjoy a beautiful aquarium complete with colorful fish thanks to a generous gift from the Doug Henderson III Foundation. Hospice Volunteer, Bette Bechtel, recognized the need for the aquarium and shared the idea with Bev Henderson who donated in memory of her son Doug Henderson, III. The aquarium was placed in the Residential Care Wing lobby of Langdale Hospice House for its residents to enjoy as they stay for extended periods of time.
The Doug Henderson III Foundation began in 2004 in memory of Doug Henderson III who battled synovial sarcoma, a rare type of soft tissue cancer. The Hospice library and Pediatric Patient Room were named in memory of Doug during the initial building campaign of the Langdale Hospice House in 2007. This Foundation has supported numerous worthy endeavors as well as educational scholarships in recent years.
