State Representative Jason Shaw (R-Lakeland) recently attended the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) Summer National Meeting in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Shaw is one of 30 legislators from 26 states and territories consulting with insurance regulators from across the country at its 209th National Meeting.
Shaw engaged regulators on state and regional issues that impact insurance consumers including modernization of the regulatory framework, ongoing market regulation activities and promotion of the insurance marketplace.
"Regulators and legislators need to be on the same page when addressing critical financial issues in our state," said Rep. Shaw. "Many states share the same concerns as we do in Georgia and we all benefit from these open dialogues where we can learn from each other, as well as share insights into what works."
Through the NAIC, state insurance regulators establish standards and best practices, conduct peer review, and coordinate their regulatory oversight. NAIC staff supports these efforts and represents the collective views of state regulators domestically and internationally.
Representative Jason Shaw represents the citizens of District 176, which includes all of Atkinson and Lanier counties, as well as portions of Lowndes, and Ware counties.
He was elected into the House of Representatives in 2010 and currently serves as the Vice-Chairman on the Insurance Committee. He also serves on the Economic Development & Tourism, Game, Fish, & Parks, and Small Business Development committees.
