Robert “Al” McNabb, Director of Facilities Management at Lanier Health Services, an affiliate of South Georgia Medical Center, recently earned the designation of Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM) by the American Hospital Association (AHA) Certification Center. The CHFM is a national credential that distinguishes an individual as being among the elite in the healthcare facility management profession.

McNabb began his career at LHS in 2009 as the Director of Engineering and has completed countless facility improvement projects over the past four years. McNabb’s most recent project included the addition of Lakeland Family Care Clinic, an office space with five exam rooms, reception area, nurses’ station, offices, break room and lab . McNabb was promoted in 2011 to the Director of Facilities Management as he consistently managed to accomplish major projects while continuing to oversee day to day maintenance tasks.

To earn the CHFM, an individual must satisfy requirements that incorporate a blend of professional experience and education, agree to adhere to the AHA Professional Standards of Conduct and pass the CHFM Certification Examination. The CHFM exam assesses knowledge required of a competent healthcare facility manager in the areas of Compliance; Planning, Design and Construction; Maintenance and Operations; and Finance and Administration.  The CHRM Program supports the community of healthcare facility managers and is designed to provide an objective and rigorous assessment of mastery of a well-defined body of professional knowledge.
