Wednesday, September 11th, 2013

South Georgia Medical Center and its affiliates congratulate Hospice of South Georgia’s Social Worker Amanda Mason, LCSW, for her recent credentialing as an Advanced Certified Hospice and Palliative Social Worker (ACHP-SW). This is an exclusive level of certification that is held by only a few social workers around the state. According to the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) website, this is “the premier credential for social workers in hospice and palliative care…who meet national standards of excellence.

A Hospice of South Georgia employee since 2008, Mason’s experiences working with patients and families during their end-of-life journeys, in addition to her advanced degree and continuing education, has provided an extensive background in healthcare related social work.

As a Hospice social worker, Mason has helped families receiving hospice care as part of a comprehensive team of professionals and volunteers. Since 2011, she has served as the Director of Clinical Support Services. In that role she oversees members of the Hospice of South Georgia team, including Social Workers, Bereavement Support, Spiritual Services and Admissions.

“Hospice of South Georgia is especially proud to have Amanda working with our team of caregivers,” said Susan Bowden, Executive Director of Hospice of South Georgia and the Langdale Hospice House. “Amanda has a wonderful rapport with patient and families and is truly a skilled professional.”

Mason received her undergraduate degree and her Masters in Social Work at Valdosta State University.  She is married to Mike Mason and they have three daughters.
