Elkins Constructors Inc. has opened a new office in Valdota, Ga., and Senior Vice President Bill Stinson will manage it.

“We look forward to the continued growth of our Georgia operations and building on the relationships we have developed in the Valdosta community,” said Matthew Welch, president and chief operating officer at Elkins. “Although the construction industry has been hit hard by the economic conditions of the last four years, we see a lot of potential in this area. Our goal is to position Elkins for future growth as we come out of the economic downturn.”

The Jacksonville-based contractor has done work in Valdosta in the past and recently completed two projects at Valdosta State University. It is also building the new Pinevale Elementary School for Valdosta City Schools.

The Jacksonville-based firm provides construction management, design/build and general contracting services throughout the southeastern United States.
