Corporate recruiters and staffing agencies placed more than 2,300 new online job ads for Marketing Managers with social media skills during June 2011, according toWANTED Analytics, the leading source of real-time business intelligence for the talent marketplace. With a 71% year-over-year growth, Marketing Managers are now commonly required to have these new skills.

Recruiters in the New York area had the largest demand for these skills with over 300 new jobs advertised online. San Francisco was not far behind with almost 220 new jobs advertised. While most metro areas in the U.S. saw increased demand for this position, Los Angeles had over 80% growth year-over-year.

Recruiting conditions across the US will vary by location, depending on the available talent supply of Social Media Marketers. Of the five cities with the most demand, recruiters in Chicago are likely to experience the most difficult hiring conditions. According to theHiring Scale, the talent pool here is relatively smaller and employers will need to compete to find qualified potential candidates. As a result, recruiters in Chicago are likely to spend more time and expenses on sourcing candidates than the US average.

The Hiring Scale measures conditions in local job markets by comparing hiring demand and labor supply. The Hiring Scale is part of the WANTED Analytics platform that offers business intelligence for the talent marketplace.
