Wednesday, March 16th, 2011
Ovation Benefits, a national leader in workforce health improvement and one of the largest independent benefits brokers in the country, announced today that the organization has completed the acquisition of Benefits Planning Concepts, Inc. (BPC), a benefits brokerage based in Jackson, Georgia. BPC is noted for being a progressive benefits brokerage service, one that embraces workforce health improvement as a significant part of their approach.
Formed in 1983, BPC has enjoyed a long history of success in the benefits brokerage market in their area. When approached by the partners at Ovation benefits, Jim Gunter, Benefits Planning Concepts’ President was immediately interested in coming on board. “We viewed it as a tremendous opportunity, “Gunter said in a recent interview. “We saw that there was an overall goal in Ovation’s operation to get people healthy. We recognized that they were positioned well in their market, and being a larger organization, they could offer a depth of organizational resource that would translate into unparalleled customer service for clients.”
The acquisition by Ovation benefits will advance BPC in their mission to provide a health improvement based solution to employers’ healthcare cost crisis. Undoubtedly, they will receive the same customer accolades as a part of the Ovation family as they did prior to the acquisition. "With a strategic emphasis on creative benefit designs we have shifted from being reactive to proactive and from a focus on treatment to an emphasis on prevention” says Randy Morris, President of Automotive Group, Inc. a client of PBC.
“We are very excited about working with Jim and his staff” says Ovation Benefits COO Brian Driscoll. “It was apparent from the beginning of our relationship that he shared the same vision about the evolving role of a benefits advisor and the direct impact we can and will have on helping employers control their healthcare costs. BPC’s experience coupled with Ovation’s capabilities will provide our Georgia employer groups with necessary solutions to combat rising healthcare costs. “
“Ovation Benefits opened an Atlanta office last year, and brought with it a decade-long history of innovation and market leadership in workforce health and employee benefits,” said Bill Carew, Ovation Benefits President & CEO. “The acquisition of BPC strengthens our presence in the Georgia market and provides our customers with an unmatched ability to save money and improve the lives of at-risk employees.”
The BPC acquisition comes on the heels of Ovation’s purchase of Atlanta-based Health Navigators, LLC in September, 2010. The company indicates that it will continue to pursue additional acquisition opportunities to expand their presence in Atlanta and in additional expansion markets across the country.
