    The City of Valdosta will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, Oct. 30, at 11 a.m., at 920 West Street, located in one of the city’s Designated Revitalization Areas. The reconstructed home was built using Community Development Block Grant and is one of the resources the city is utilizing to eliminating substandard housing within the city limits by the year 2020.

    The Georgia Department of Labor announced today that Metro Valdosta’s unemployment rate for September was 5.9 percent, down three-tenths of a percentage point from 6.2 percent in August. The rate in September 2014 was 7.2 percent.

The equivalent of nearly 25,000 pounds of food was collected in September during Southeastern's second annual Fill-a-Truck for Hunger Food Drive, exceeding the community goal of 20,000 pounds.
