SGMC Health has released its Fiscal Year 2025 Annual Report, highlighting continued growth across key clinical services, workforce development, and a campus expansion that strengthens healthcare access across South Georgia and North Florida.
“Our annual report is a reflection of the extraordinary dedication and compassion of our physicians, employees, and volunteers who serve patients and communities throughout the region,” said Ronald Dean, President and Chief Executive Officer of SGMC Health. “Because of their commitment to excellence and exceptional work, we continue to expand access to high-quality care, invest in the future of healthcare, and make a meaningful and positive impact on every life we serve, and for that, we are grateful.”
The annual report provides a snapshot of a year marked by growth and momentum across the health system. SGMC Health continues to serve as a major economic driver and regional employer, surpassing $1.6 billion in economic impact, and employing more than 3,200 team members, including 1,100 nurses and a medical staff approaching 700 physicians and advanced practice providers.
The report highlights continued advancements across key clinical service lines, including heart and vascular care, orthopedic services, and neurosciences, bringing specialized, high-quality care closer to home. These service line investments support improved access to care for patients while contributing to SGMC Health’s role as a regional referral center.
Workforce development and education remain central to the system’s long-term strategy. The Annual Report details continued growth in medical education, including 50+ resident physicians training across Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, and Transitional Year programs, as well as SGMC Health’s role as a two-year clinical campus of Mercer University School of Medicine, supporting the next generation of physicians and strengthening regional physician retention.
Major infrastructure investments are also featured, with the main campus expansion nearing completion. The transformative project includes a state-of-the-art Women & Infants Tower, a new Level III Trauma Center and Emergency Department, a reimagined main entrance to hospital services, and a wellness park designed for patients, families, team members, and the community.
The report also features SGMC Health’s operational milestones, including ISO 9001 Quality Management System certification through its accrediting organization, DNV, and national recognition as a 2026 Great Workplace for Nursing, reflecting its continued focus on quality, safety, and being an Unparalleled Place to Work.
