Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Greater Valdosta United Way is proud to announce that it has reached 100% of its goal for the 2026 United WE Thrive Campaign, raising an incredible $1.3 million to support individuals and families across South Georgia.

Thanks to the generosity of local individuals, businesses, and community partners, these funds will be reinvested directly back into our region through our local Impact Partners, in-house assistance, and programmatic work, with funding levels suggested by the organization’s Community Investment Committee (CIC). The CIC is made up of dedicated community volunteers who carefully review local needs and funding requests to ensure that every dollar is used effectively and responsibly to strengthen our community.

GVUW’s mission is to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of our community. The success of this year’s campaign reflects that mission in action.

“This achievement is a powerful reminder of what we can accomplish together,” said Michael Smith, CEO and President of GVUW. “It means so much to all of us that our community believes in United Way and continues to support our mission. The trust our donors place in GVUW allows us to invest in programs that truly make a difference for our neighbors right here at home.”

Funds raised through the 2026 Campaign will support a wide range of local programs focused on youth opportunities, financial security, healthy communities, and community resiliency, helping individuals and families build stronger, more resilient futures throughout South Georgia.

GVUW extends its sincere gratitude to every donor, workplace campaign coordinator, volunteer, and business partner who helped make this milestone possible. Reaching 100% of the campaign goal demonstrates the extraordinary commitment of this community to caring for one another.

As the organization looks ahead, Greater Valdosta United Way encourages community members to continue getting involved, whether by volunteering, serving on a committee, supporting a workplace campaign, or making a personal contribution.

Together, we can continue to create lasting change and ensure that everyone in South Georgia has the opportunity to thrive.
