Georgia Bankers Association Elects & Installs Officers and Directors to its Board

Georgia Bankers Association (GBA) members have elected and installed officers for the 2025-2026 fiscal year and added seven members to its board of directors.

At the 133rd GBA Annual Meeting on June 15, Philip G. Williams, executive vice president and Georgia banking president of The Claxton Bank, was installed as the 137th GBA Chairman.

“Philip brings to this role a deep commitment to Georgia’s banking industry and a wealth of experience leading a community bank,” said Tripp Cofield, GBA president and CEO. “His thoughtful leadership and clear dedication to service will strengthen our association and support the continued success of our member banks across the state.” 

GBA members also elected three other officers for 2025-2026. Susan V. Moss, president and CEO, Planters and Citizens Bank, Camilla, is GBA’s new Chairman-Elect, and Timothy M. Perry, president and CEO, The Citizens Bank of Georgia, Cumming, is the new Vice Chairman. Steven Walker Jordan Jr., president and CEO, Bank of Monticello, will serve a three-year term as Secretary-Treasurer. 

In addition, six new board members were installed for their terms that begin July 1: 

  • North Group: Bartow Morgan, Jr., CEO, Georgia Banking Company, Atlanta

  • Central Group: Scott Swafford, president and COO, United Bank, Zebulon

  • South Group: Brad Brookshire, CEO, Great Oaks Bank, Richmond Hill

  • At Large: Nikki Stephenson, executive vice president and head of Commercial Banking, Regions Bank, Atlanta

  • Leadership GBA Chair: Robert Duvall, first vice president and branch manager, Bank of Madison

  • Community Bankers Committee Chair: Ed Pope, president and CEO, F&M Bank, Washington.

Additionally, Jay Torbert, president and CEO, Southeastern Bank, Darien, will serve in the position designated for the chair of GBA Services, Inc., as well as continue to serve as a South Group board member.
