A rendering of SGMC Health's Women & Infants Tower set to break ground this summer

SGMC Health is pleased to announce a generous gift of $500,000 from the Stalvey Family, founders of Ace Electric, Inc. The gift will support Phase I of SGMC's long-range facilities plan which includes construction of a new Women and Infants tower and Emergency/Trauma Center set to break ground this summer.     

SGMC Health President and Chief Executive Officer Ronald E. Dean shared gratitude for the Stalvey family's support and commitment to the health and well-being of those in the area.

With this very generous gift, the Stalveys have joined us in advancing a shared vision of growth and innovation that will make a lasting impact on healthcare in South Georgians and the region of communities we serve. And for that we are deeply grateful,” shared Dean. "SGMC Health exists for one reason and one reason only, to improve the lives of all we serve, and our mission is further enabled and brought to life by generous donors like the Stalvey family.”    

The new patient tower will expand the main campus by 145,000 sq. ft. and create a new main entrance to inpatient and outpatient services and programs. Two patient floors, a first-floor entryway, a lobby, and other unique spaces will be committed to women’s health during the birthing experience and infant care, including an expanded Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Another ground-level feature of the new tower includes a new emergency and trauma center with an increased number of specialized treatment areas to handle up to fifty percent more patient and family encounters with higher levels of efficiency and comfort. These areas include specially designed spaces for different levels of care, including express care, behavioral healthcare, and trauma services. As the area's Level III Trauma Center, SGMC Health provides care to over 90,000 patients and families that visit SGMC Health Emergency Departments each year. The new ER is critical to enhancing timely access to emergency and trauma care for a growing population in South Georgia and surrounding areas, especially in the midst of a life-threatening event. Additional SGMC Health Main campus enhancements will include a connector boulevard, additional surface parking, and a wellness park.
