Greater Valdosta United Way Provides an Additional $25,000 in Summer Support to Local Nonprofits
Wednesday, July 26th, 2023
For the first time ever, the Greater Valdosta United Way (GVUW) is able to provide Summer Support Funds to their partner nonprofits.
Thanks to the dedication of the GVUW Community Investment Committee and the final approval by the GVUW board, an additional $25,000.00 will be distributed between eight of their partner nonprofits.
The availability of Summer Support Funds is due to the success of the 2022 Annual Campaign and is driven by the challenges and needs of nonprofits.
"It is a tough time for everyone with increased food, energy, and staffing costs,” said Michael Smith, CEO and President of GVUW. "We are just honored to have the extra funds available, thanks to our donors, to give this critical support this summer."
The funds will go towards the partner nonprofits’ programs and services that GVUW supports. These programs must fit into their focus areas of youth and after-school programs, housing and shelter, mental health training and awareness, and basic needs.
Recipients of the summer support funds are ACTO, American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, Jacobs’ Ladder, LAMP, Living Bridges, Partnership Health Center, and Youth Impact Center.
Nonprofits can expect to receive funds by the end of July.
