Christmas Chalk Art Will Fill The Park This Weekend
Thursday, December 8th, 2022
Wild Adventures Theme Park in Valdosta, Ga. will welcome professional chalk artists this weekend to decorate sidewalks with cheerful Christmas scenes during the park’s annual Deck the Walks event.
“Every year during Deck the Walks, our guests get to watch as sections of sidewalk are transformed into incredible works of art,” said Cindy Romero, director of attractions and entertainment. “It’s amazing to watch these artists at work, and their pieces are always welcome additions to the lights and decor of Wild Adventures Christmas.”
Deck the Walks begins Friday night and will continue through Sunday. Artists will be stationed around the Discovery Outpost area, and feature Jessie Queen from Atlanta, Ga.; Gabriela Magdaleno from Guanajuato, Mexico, Erik Greenawalt from Pittsburgh, Pa., Heather Cap from Fayetteville, Ga., and Lata Fields from LaGrange, Ga.
“And once the artwork is complete, a special sealant is applied so guests can enjoy them throughout the rest of Wild Adventures Christmas, the biggest Christmas celebration in our region,” said Romero.
Wild Adventures Christmas continues select days through December 31 and features the new Candy Cane Express, a peppermint-scented train ride through brilliant light displays set to festive holiday tunes. After riding the Candy Cane Express, guests can take a stroll through twinkling displays along the Glimmering Light Trail that meanders through a real Georgia swamp decorated with Christmas trees, snowflakes and more.
Also new to the event are the woodland creature antics of “A Very Puppet Christmas,” the new “Magic of Christmas Parade” where kids dance and sing along the way to light up a towering five-story animated Christmas tree, the new S’mores Village where guests can make a tasty treat over an open flame and Georgia’s Largest Snow Foam Party where kids can play in a mountain of foam.
Complementing the new additions to Wild Adventures Christmas are several returning events and attractions, including visits and photos with Santa, “The Miracle of Christmas: A Living Nativity,” The Drummer Boys percussion show, “Holly Frostington’s Elf Training Academy” interactive show, Mrs. Claus’s Storytime, cookie decorating, ornament decorating and free hot chocolate every night from 7 p.m. to park close.
