SGMC Releases Annual Report

South Georgia Medical Center is pleased to release its fiscal year 2020 annual report. The report, available in both print and digital formats, features a recap of the health system's response to COVID-19, patient testimonials from various serious lines, and stories of how the organization has evolved over the past year.
"We believe it is important to celebrate the remarkable people of SGMC, the dedicated patients and resilient staff who devote themselves to serving a grateful community," said SGMC President and Chief Executive Officer Ronald E. Dean. "It has been the highlight of my career to have the opportunity to work alongside some of the brightest and best trained health care professionals who rival any in the world."
Aside from the system's response to the pandemic, other highlights found in the report include:
· Increased physician access through recruitment of a broad range of physician specialists and new partnerships with physicians throughout the region
· A partnership with Mercer University School of Medicine to provide an internal medicine residency program at South Georgia Medical Center
· New primary care clinics, specialty care clinics and clinical services throughout the region
· Enhancements to SGMC's women and infants services to include OB hospitalists, AngelEye Health technology, wireless fetal monitoring, new state-of-the-art birthing beds, a pregnancy app, and 3D mammography
Also featured in the report are important statistics like the system's economic impact which is approaching $1 billion annually, and the nearly 10,000 jobs created due to the health system's presence. The report also shares how employees of the health system gives back to the communities they serve through volunteering and financial donations.
