Staff Report From Valdosta CEO

Thursday, May 26th, 2016

Georgia Attorney General Sam Olens announced this week that the state’s legal community raised the equivalent of nearly 1.2 million pounds of food during this year's Georgia Legal Food Frenzy, an annual food/fund drive sponsored by the Georgia Bar Association Young Lawyers’ Division and the Attorney General’s office. 20 area firms and legal organizations participated in this year’s event which benefits Second Harvest of South Georgia, the regional food bank.

Valdosta-based Coleman Talley LLP swept the medium firm size category for the fifth consecutive year collecting 125,176 pounds. The firm has contributed the equivalent of 200 tons of food since the event began in 2012.  In addition to raising over a million pounds of food for Georgia’s food banks this year, Georgia Legal Food Frenzy met the organizers’ initial long-term goal of collecting 5 million pounds of food in 5 years, exceeding the goal by just over 8,000 pounds.

"We are honored to have the opportunity to take an active role in the fight against hunger in Georgia. All of the money we raised and food we collected goes directly to Second Harvest of South Georgia. I would like to personally thank all of my partners and the employees of Coleman Talley for once again putting forth the tremendous effort to feed the hungry in South Georgia. I would also extend my sincerest thanks to those in the business community who joined our efforts,” said Coleman Talley Partner and Second Harvest of South Georgia Board Member, Bill Holland.

“South Georgia has the highest rates of food insecurity in the state and among the highest rates in the nation.  The funds and food collected through the Legal Food Frenzy event are instrumental in our efforts to provide food and groceries for our neighbors in need.” Said Frank Richards, Second Harvest CEO.
