Clinch Memorial Hospital in Homerville, GA announces the successful completion of its new accreditation process from DNV GL – Healthcare.  “Accreditation is a symbol of our dedication to quality. The DNV GL program is consistent with our long-term commitment to quality and patient safety,” says Angela Ammons, Clinch Memorial Hospital CEO. “The ability to integrate ISO 9001 quality standards with our clinical and financial processes is a major step forward.” In October 2019, Clinch Memorial Hospital was recognized as HomeTown Health’s Hospital of the Year.

The U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) requires accreditation for hospitals seeking reimbursement for care provided to patients covered by Medicare and Medicaid. Without accreditation, most hospitals would only be able to support a fraction of the patient populations they now serve.  CMS maintains a highly rigorous process of assessing and approving accreditation providers, which more than 60 years since the inception of Medicare still numbers fewer than five.

Angela Ammons added, “It has been a primary goal of mine for CMH to obtain accreditation as it is validation to our community and peers that we are meeting the standards set by CMS and are continually evaluating ourselves to develop processes to improve our practices and to promote safety. This would not have been possible without the efforts of a tremendous team of employees who worked together to achieve this goal and the friendship and resources that Miller County Hospital shared with us to prepare for this journey. “

By earning accreditation, Clinch Memorial Hospital has demonstrated it meets or exceeds patient safety standards (Conditions of Participation) set forth by the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. DNV GL’s accreditation program is the only one to integrate the ISO 9001 Quality Management System with the Medicare Conditions of Participation.
