SGMC Welcomes Youth Volunteers

outh Georgia Medical Center welcomes 47 Youth Volunteers to its annual summer program, Canopy of Care. Participants are students between the ages of 14 and 17 whose responsibilities vary from patient care/interaction, administrative support, to surgical and outpatient services support.
 
“SGMC’s teen volunteer campaign has evolved into a mature experience for rising, young students whose ultimate career interests lie within the healthcare profession,” states Jessica McKinney with SGMC Volunteer Services.  “Branded as Canopy of Care, students walk the halls of SGMC fulfilling commitments and welcoming challenges of civic engagement. Their six-week summer adventure exposes them to our community of care as they forge forward in their interest and pursuit of success in health care.”
 
Eighty-one applications for the program were considered and interviews were held resulting in the final 47. Students are hosted in 18 different areas of the SGMC enterprise.
 
SGMC welcomes the following participants: Emma Barton, Callie Bellflower, Mallory Bennett, Annalee Bickers, Madelea Blades, D’Aira Brown, Natalee Carter, Madeline Castor, Spencer Chmielewski, Ethan Edwards, Sandra Fajobi, Grace Frazier, Asa Gaines, Damia Gibbs, Hiba Heikal, Renee Hollingsworth, Brennan Hulett, Maraynna Jenkins, Erin Kelly, Lamees Khalil, Romulus Khalil, Sophie Khalil, Krimzon Larson, Taylor Lee, Kylie Lewis, Jon Liu, Isaiah Lopez, Victoria Nargi, Jocelyn Neal, Bhoomy Patel, Diya Patel, Ishva Patel, Christen Powell, Samantha Renfro, Leighla Richardson. Cason Roberts, Anne Stalvey, Katie Strickland, Diamond Taylor, Dhruv Thanki, Katelyn Thomas, Katelyn Thomas, Amanda Washabaugh, Joann William, Neleh Williams, Kayden Wrights, and Morgan Wynn.
 
The youth volunteers, who wear grey polo shirts and khaki pants, will be working throughout the organization. The Canopy of Care program runs through mid-July.
