The Keep Lowndes-Valdosta Beautiful (KLVB) Board assists the City of Valdosta and Lowndes County in establishing community-wide policies for decreasing the amount of litter in our community and for promoting and establishing beautification programs.  
 
Mar. 20  | Hospital Authority of Valdosta & Lowndes Co.
8:00 AM - SGMC Board Room
As a public hospital, an eight-member Hospital Authority governs SGMC. Both the City Council of Valdosta and the Lowndes County Board of Commissioners appoint the representatives who serve on the Authority. Each group appoints four representatives who each serve a 5-year term. Authority members are community leaders who serve the hospital voluntarily. It's a labor-intensive job for which no Authority member receives any monetary compensation.

The Valdosta/Lowndes County Land Bank Authority's mission is the conversion of vacant, abandoned, and tax-delinquent properties into productive use, with an emphasis on creating and promoting affordable housing and enhancing the appearance of the community.

The City of Valdosta created the Public Art Program to further the purchase and foster the appreciation of works of public art and to promote the creation of works of art and the purchase of same for the citizens and the City of Valdosta in order to promote the aesthetic value to the entire community.  The Program also encourages the preservation and protection of works of public art and to encourage economic development.

The mission of the City of Valdosta Youth Council (VYC) is for youth to build leadership skills and learn about civic responsibility, to gain a better understanding of municipal government, and to prepare youth for a lifetime of public and community service.

5:30 PM - City Hall in Council Chambers
The Mayor and the members of the City Council invite and encourage citizens to attend City Council meetings whenever possible because good government depends on the interest and involvement of citizens.  City Council meetings are held on the first and third Thursday following the first Sunday of the month, although changes may be necessary to avoid conflict with holidays.  All City Council meetings are open to the general public.
