Lowndes Imagination Library Thanks Community

Tuesday, July 17th, 2018

The Lowndes Imagination Library Team thanks the community for again responding generously and enabling us to clear the waiting list of children who had requested Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library books. We now have 1,525 children in Lowndes County receiving books.

The Valdosta Rotary Club and the Valdosta North Rotary Club work with the Dollywood Foundation to provide Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library books free each month from birth to 5th birthday. Since staring the program in Lowndes County in 2009, we have raised over $200,000 and provided books to nearly 3,000 children in Lowndes County.

The program is made possible by the generosity of businesses, foundations, and individuals. We would particularly like to thank all who made contributions in the Rotary year ending June 30, especially The Thomas M. and Irene B. Kirbo Foundation, Georgia Power Foundation, Southeastern Credit Union, TeamTemps Personnel Staffing, Ashley’s Business Solutions, Wild Adventures, Rusty Griffin, Valdosta North Rotary Club/Rotary District 6920, Bob and Sue Raffaele, Georgia Christian School Interact Club, and the many generous individuals who have furthered literacy in Lowndes County.

But there are over 8,000 children under age 5 in Lowndes County. It takes $25 to provide a child with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library books for a year, $125 to provide a child with books from birth to 5th birthday. We would much appreciate your donations! Please send your tax-deductible contribution in any amount to The Valdosta Rotary Foundation, P.O. Box 517, Valdosta, GA 31603, with “Imagination Library” in the memo line. Thank you so much!
