GMA’s 2019 Legislative Policies Proposed

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Monday, June 4th, 2018

As a result of input from city officials across the state during various listening sessions held this spring, GMA’s Legislative Policy Council has proposed 2019 Legislative Policies for consideration by GMA’s six policy committees at the GMA Annual Convention in Savannah. The LPC is the focal point for the Association’s legislative policy effort. The LPC’s responsibility begins each spring after the conclusion of the legislative session and continues throughout the year.

The policies are organized by GMA's six policy committees and are the culmination of the work of hundreds of city officials throughout the state who attended spring listening sessions, participated in various GMA-hosted meetings, received outreach visits and worked closely with the members of the GMA Legislative Policy Council. Following the policy committee meetings at Convention, the LPC will make any further refinements to the 2019 Legislative Policies it deems necessary before presenting it to the membership for approval at the annual business meeting.

During the legislative session, the LPC provides real-time feedback and advice on critical policy issues at the Capitol. Members testify before committees on specific legislation and also maintain close contact with legislators in and out of session.
