SGRC Publishes Updated Bicycle Map

Staff Report From Valdosta CEO

Thursday, March 30th, 2017

The Southern Georgia Regional Commission has recently published an updated version of the Bicycling in Southern Georgia bicycle map that covers cycling options in eighteen counties in southern Georgia. Our region is home to three state bicycle routes along with countless bicycle lanes and trails that provide opportunities for recreational cycling. This publication aims to inform residents of these amenities and serve as an aid to help plan a bicycling trip.

New to this version of the bicycle map is symbology of roads by average annual daily traffic counts. This allows cyclists to better gauge what roadway and level of traffic they are comfortable with.

This publication also includes information on bicycle laws in the state of Georgia along with bicycle tips and regional points of interest. An electronic copy of this brochure is available at http://www.sgrc.us/bike---ped-planning.html.

For anyone who has questions or comments or is interested in displaying and/or distributing copies of this bicycle map should contact Southern Georgia Regional Commission, Transportation and Environmental Director, Corey Hull; [email protected]; phone 229-333-5277.
