The Georgia Chapter of HIMSS will hold its premier education and networking event for health information technology professionals Thursday, Oct.16, 2014 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, GA. The conference provides an opportunity for Georgia's healthcare IT professionals to network extensively with their peers and learn how to meet the challenges of the changing healthcare economy. Last year's conference drew 500 attendees representing healthcare organizations from across the state.

The morning kicks off with a C-suite information technology expert panel, led by Dee Cantrell, Emory Healthcare's Chief Information Officer (CIO), discussing the strategies and challenges of coordinating care across the continuum. Dr. C. Martin Harris, the CIO and Chairman of Cleveland Clinic, the afternoon keynote speaker, will share real-life examples of the transformative impact of information technology on healthcare delivery and quality.
Throughout the day, over 20 education breakout sessions covering a variety of operational and strategic topics will be offered. This year's spotlight on Georgia's innovative health information technology initiatives includes:
- An update on the latest accomplishments of the Georgia Health Information Network (GaHIN) and a live demonstration on how value is realized when clinical information is being exchanged.
