Press release from the issuing company

Wednesday, April 16th, 2014

The Valdosta-Lowndes County Chamber hosted the Members to be Heard meeting on April 14, at the City Hall Annex.

Members voiced their concerns and opinions to the Chamber’s Government Affairs Council about current issues with a potential impact on their businesses.

The Council heard from Jim Galloway (Valdosta-Lowndes County Airport Authority) about transportation funding for airports. Ferrell Scruggs (the Scruggs Company) addressed the need for support to renew the current transportation bill that is needed to fund roadway projects scheduled to begin in June. Andrea Shrujer (Valdosta-Lowndes Industrial Authority) explained current mobile broadband options available to local businesses which would expand operations abilities and ultimately generate greater efficiency and productivity within the business community.

The GAC will keep the concerns of Chamber members in mind as they travel to Washington D.C. to advocate for the business needs of the Valdosta-Lowndes community. The council will be traveling with the South Georgia Military Affairs Council (SGMAC) at the end of April to meet with federal legislators.
