Father's Day is almost as important for dining out asMother's Day, according to a new Technomic poll.

Four out of 10 consumers surveyed say they plan to take Dad out to eat on June 16. That compares to just over half of recent survey respondents who anticipated dining out on Mother's Day.

One third of consumers are looking forward to a special Father's Day meal—such as a backyard barbecue—at home or at the home of a family member or friend. The remainder are planning a special day that doesn't involve a meal, haven't yet made plans, or expect to skip the celebration.

Interestingly, 56 percent of Hispanic families say they plan to celebrate Father's Day at a restaurant, substantially higher than expectations reported by other ethnic groups or the population at large (40 percent).

These and other findings will appear in the next edition of MarketBriefing, a complimentary newsletter prepared by Technomicand published by American Express. To subscribe, go to americanexpress.com/restaurant.
