After another strong month of IT employment growth in March, IT employment reached another all-time high.

In March, the number of IT jobs grew by 15,000 or 0.4 percent sequentially to 4,146,300, according to TechServe Alliance, a collaboration of IT services firms, clients, consultants and suppliers. The first quarter of 2012 marks more than two years of consecutive quarterly growth in IT employment.

"While overall employment growth was disappointing in March, demand for IT professionals remains robust.  On a year-over-year basis, IT employment grew at almost twice the rate of the overall job market," observed Mark Roberts, CEO of TechServe Alliance. "Based on our analysis of BLS data as well as initial reports of increased demand for IT professionals through the H-1B visa program, we fully anticipate that IT employment will continue to hit new highs throughout 2012," added Roberts.
