Employer Committee to Host Wage and Hour Seminar April 17 in Valdosta

The South Georgia Employer Committee and the Valdosta Lowndes County Chamber of Commerce will co-host a seminar Tuesday, April 17, for employers on federal wage and hour laws. The event will be held from 9-11:30 a.m. at the Valdosta City Annex, located at 300 North Lee St.

C. Jason Willcox of Albany, an attorney with Moore, Calarke, DuVall and Rodgers, a law firm with offices in Albany, Valdosta, and Atlanta, will lead the seminar. It will focus on the U.S. Department of Labor’s Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), calculating overtime for workers paid by the hour, and employer taxes paid for independent contract workers and personnel paid on commission.

The seminar is designed for business owners, human resource managers, supervisors, team leaders, and entrepreneurs.

The cost of the seminar is $15 for those who pre-register by Friday, April 13, and $20 for others.

A continental breakfast begins at 8:30 a.m., along with registration.
