Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Monday, February 12th, 2018

Secretary of State Brian Kemp announced a record-breaking month of annual business registrations. In the month of January, the Corporations Division processed over 216,000 annual business registrations – more registrations in one month’s time than ever before.

“We are proud to achieve another milestone in our agency,” said Secretary Kemp. “With our state-of-the-art eCorp filing system, filing your business in Georgia continues to become simpler. Feedback on our user-friendly filing system remains upbeat and positive, and the numbers reflect how easy it is to use. By streamlining this process, we simplify the lives of job creators – big and small – all over the state.”

All for-profit corporations, non-profit corporations, professional corporations, limited liability companies, and limited partnerships are required to file up-to-date business registrations with the Secretary of State’s Corporations Division during the annual registration period from January 1st until April 1st each year.

Officers and registered agents can visit the website without having to log into the system and select one of two options: “One Click Annual Registration” if there are no changes to be made to their business filings or “Express Annual Registration” to update contact information or make other changes. Now a user can file multiple annual registrations at once using the “Bulk One Click Annual Registration” feature after logging into his or her account. Additionally, customers can also download the free “GA SOS” smartphone app to complete an annual registration and, if needed, obtain a digital copy of the entity’s certificate of existence.

Customers may also file hard-copy annual registrations in person or mail annual registrations with a check or money order to the Georgia Secretary of State’s office at the Corporations Division in Atlanta, the Professional Licensing Boards Division in Macon, the North Georgia office in Cartersville, or the South Georgia office in Tifton. Mailed applications must be postmarked by April 1, 2018. Cash is not accepted.

If a business fails to renew by the April 1, 2018 deadline, it must pay a $25.00 late filing fee or risk administrative dissolution or revocation. Businesses can reach the Corporations Division at (404) 656-2817, submit email inquiries for assistance, or view this video tutorial to learn how to use the website and resolve any renewal hang-ups.
