Federal Reserve Bank Representative to Speak at Chamber Breakfast

The Valdosta-Lowndes Chamber’s Business Outlook Breakfast hosted by Wiregrass Georgia Technical College is Feb. 5, 7:30–9 a.m. at the James H. Rainwater Conference Center. An esteemed panel including Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta representative Dr. Thomas Cunningham, UGA economist Dr. Jeffery Humphreys and VSU economist Dr. Cynthia Tori will present the 2013 outlook for business from national, state and local perspectives. 

Dr. Cunningham, vice president and associate director of research for the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, will provide a business outlook from a national and regional perspective.  He serves on the Atlanta Fed's Information Technology and Risk Management committees and is a member of the Federal Reserve System's Information Security Group and Technology Services Council. He is currently the acting director of the Atlanta Fed's Center for Real Estate Analytics.

Dr. Humphreys is the director of the Selig Center for Economic Growth at the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business. The Selig Center is an endowed economic forecasting and market research center. He is a member of the Governor’s Council of Economic Advisors and is a monthly columnist for Georgia Trend Magazine. Dr. Humphreys will present the Georgia economic outlook.

Dr. Cynthia Tori is a professor of economics at the Harley Langdale Jr. College of Business at Valdosta State University.  Her research has been published in the Journal of Macroeconomics, the Atlantic Economic Journal, and the International Journal of Economics and Finance.  Dr. Tori is also the writer and editor of the South Georgia Business Outlook, which discusses and forecasts the expected economic conditions for the thirty-two counties that comprise the South Georgia region.  Dr. Tori will provide a Greater Valdosta Forecast.
